Corey and I have talked about starting a garden for AGES... but we just never have. So last week when we talked about it again, we decided we're really, for sure, absolutely going to do it. A friend had mentioned Square Foot Gardening a few weeks ago, so I looked into it (again... I had looked at it five or so years ago) and decided that THIS was the way we could garden!
Corey came home yesterday with a seed starting kit (the kind you're supposed to use in like, February so you can plant in April) and a bunch of seed packets, so we got started. I used the rest of the day yesterday to plan and perfect our raised bed layout, and decide what materials we needed and which plants to get. Here's my original layout:
And my updated one, after realizing that my green beans are bushes, I couldn't find romaine lettuce, and I remembered Corey got Cuke seeds. :)
We went to a couple garden stores today plus Home Depot. While at Home Depot, Jason amused himself with my camera...
And here's our planted tray:
We also got strawberry plants today... they were more than I expected, so I got fewer than I'd planned, but hopefully I'll be able to find seeds! (I forgot to look today.)
